I like to take the weekends to reflect on the past week's highs and lows. As you know or just finding out, I was able to finally conquer a fear of mine and publish my blog "Britanny Babe" (definitely a high). The love and support people showed me by viewing and sharing and subscribing, has had me smiling like a cheshire's cat. (Alice and Wonderland reference) This definitely pushes me to take more risks and to be more open to the "out of the norm" opportunities that might come my way. I wouldn't say there were any lows other than the usual, bills and spending MY OWN money. When I find the solution for that, best believe I will share!!

Now usually on Saturdays I try to get some things done that I didn't have the time or the energy for in the past week. You know, cleaning, organizing, dusting, the blahs. This Saturday didn't fall short of what was expected but I did add a little "Me time" to the equation. I got my wax and a much needed mani and pedi and then finished it off with eating too much pizza. (I'm supposed to be on a no bread/carb diet but y'all know how that goes lol) This Sunday is where the magic actually happened. For one, my carb intake was down from the previous day but also I had the pleasure of attending the 44th Annual Odunde Festival, out here in Philly with my boyfriend. This was my first time going but definitely won't be my last. When I tell you it was a vibe, chileee it was a vibe!! Between, the different people, the music, the food, the businesses and just the MELANIN, you would of been eagerly looking up the date for the 45th annual festival.
I knew I was going to see some dope pieces but I didn't realize to what magnitude. I went wanting some art for our home but ending up getting a few personal items as well. Sue me, I'm a lady and I like to shop, no matter the store. *lol* One thing that I can't get over which speaks highly about the world we live in, was every business I came across was a black owned business. Let me say it louder for the people in the back. BLACKED OWNED BUSINESSESSSS. I was able to get some waistbeads, a beautiful Nefertiti necklace from KPelle designs, a nice throw that we decided to hang up on our wall and a few tops. It was so cool to see people that either sell their art full time or even if they do it part time; they were out there promoting and solidifying their name in these Philly streets and beyond. (Wow my second Disney/Pixar reference in a post) And I can honestly say that is one thing that I resonated with, this week.
Some of these artists and owners are finding their way to their passion even while maintaining their "9-5's". (Wow I didn't mean to use all of those "their's" but at least they were the correct ones lol) It made me think of Jay-Z and Rihanna and how they started as singers/rappers versus where they are now. Jay-Z is now a billionaire and my girl is now the wealthiest woman musician. They could have easily stuck with their norm-singing and rapping but they never let their entrance dictate the other possible doorways. You can't look at these two and just say, "they're only the music they make." They used their foundation and platform to dive into other worlds that they had a passion for. The same with these artists and owners from the festival and now I can say, the same for myself.
I'm going to continue to use my foundation to strive my passion and who knows what other doorways that might lead to. I hope you guys have an amazing week and never lose sight on what you love darlings!!!
